Theme 113 - Iconic
Cable Cars, those clanging symbols of San Francisco, are the way to see the city. But it only covers a ten-mile section of downtown. The cable car was invented in 1873 by Andrew Hallidie and works via an underground cable which travels continuously at a speed of nine-and-a-half miles per hour.
